“As we decide on our future paths, what we often need are not answers but rather courage and the will to make correct choices.”
Phee Yong Han (SPS Batch 20)
Year 4 student PHEE Yong Han graduated with Honours (High Distinction) in Physics. He was on the Dean’s List for the second and third year of his undergraduate studies, and received the Sembcorp Marine prize for his first three years of study at NUS.
As part of SP3172: Integrated Science Project, he and his peers from Life Sciences embarked on an interdisciplinary project at the Mechanobiology Institute to investigate contact inhibition of locomotion in immune cells of the common fruit fly. After the completion of the programme, Yong Han continued to serve as a senior mentor, guiding students on their academic journeys while imparting knowledge in computational thinking, scientific writing and modern physics.
He participated in the Physics immersion programme in Germany which brought him to various universities and research institutes in Munich and Göttingen. There, he gained exposure to a wide range of physics research, from cosmology to quantum optics, as well as Germany’s strong research culture which has a huge emphasis on basic science.
Yong Han will be joining Max Planck School Matter to Life to pursue a joint Master of Science to PhD Direct Track programme between Heidelberg University and the University of Göttingen.
