Special Programme in Science (SPS)

ASM Scientific Writing Workshop

On the 27th of September 2017, ASM Young Ambassador in Singapore, Dr Russel Lee and SPS Alumnus, Tan Yi Han facilitated an e-workshop on scientific writing by Professor Roberto Kolter, former president of the American Society for Microbiology(ASM).

ASM is the largest Microbial Research Society in the world, and SPS was privileged to host this workshop for our students in partnership with ASM. This ASM virtual workshop on Scientific Writing and Publishing aimed to provide an overview on the skills needed to write a strong scientific manuscript and the process of getting published.

SPS Students gained insights into the art of scientific writing; effective figure design, titles and writing techniques were discussed. All in all it was an illuminating workshop that provided new perspectives on scientific writing and advice on effective scientific writing.

We hope the workshop was able to enrich the student life and scientific skills of SPS students.
