The exact topics covered by SP2170 varies year to year, but it will definitely have a balanced mix of all fields. You will get the details during the briefing, which occurs on the first seminar slot.
As for reading materials, you'll get it when the time for it comes.
As for your last question, supposing SP1201M is a compulsory module, I shall have to let others answer it. I'm not too up to date with new academic developments.
